The Founding Story

Created out of our Friendship, human values,

and love for great food!

The brand name BONAMÍ is a play on words between "BON AMI" which means "good friend" in French, and “B! NAMÍ” which means "Wow! Delicious" in Hiligaynon, the language spoken in Capiz and Western Visayas .

BONAMÍ FOOD PRODUCTS is a food processing social enterprise created in Capiz in November 2015. It was founded by two Gawad Kalinga volunteers. Jose Antonio A. Morente is Filipino and Félix Guelfucci is French. They created this social enterprise in order to further help the local communities without relying on donations.

Jose Antonio and Félix are still volunteers of Gawad Kalinga Capiz.

Why do we do what we do?

To drive social and cultural changes!

We are convinced that private, public, and non-governmental organisations should work with a systemic approach in order to tackle the economic, social, and environmental challenges that the world faces.

We believe that access to quality food is a basic right and that people’s empowerment is part of the solution.

Our mission is to provide local communities access to quality food through entrepreneurship and economic opportunities.

We empower local communities through the following programs developed with local partnership:

  • Sourcing from local fisher folks and farmers

  • Creation of Livelihoods

  • Access to capital

  • Access to market

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” - Mahatma Gandhi

How do we do what we do?

With passion and determination!

We source all our quality raw-materials directly from local farmers and fishermen and we help them develop their infrastructures in order to level up their business and living conditions. We also develop livelihoods linked to our activity in local villages in order to provide inhabitants with a sustainable source of income, which will grow as we grow. We then process these raw-materials into high-quality products that we sell on high-end markets in order to have enough resources to sustain both our social programs and our growth.
